Letter to Expectant Parent(s)
Dear Expectant Parent(s),
Hello! We are honored and pleased that you are taking the time to read more about us! Although you may be feeling unsure and scared, we believe you are courageous in your intent to make an adoption plan. Ben and I have waited anxiously, many seasons, with a promise to care for and adore a child.
We (Ben and Mary Ella) have known each other since 2nd grade. We share mutual life experiences and the same circle of childhood friends. As fate would have it, we never dated while in school. We reconnected in our twenties, fell in love, had a very short engagement and have been happily married now for 12 years.
We attempted natural conception and in-vitro for nearly 10 years, both unsuccessful. We are now dedicated to adoption. We believe that we have so much to give... love, joy, experiences, beliefs, and opportunity. We pray that your adoption plan may be the miracle to start our family legacy!
We live in a beautiful area in the mountains of KY. We have a very comfortable home that rests between 2 forested mountains, with a small creek that runs adjacent to the property. Our large extended family all live very near and we interact with them daily. Family cook outs and Holidays are true events with children of all ages, endless food, deserts, games, storytelling, jokes, and love!
Ben's interests include Xbox gaming, cornhole tournaments, riding atv's and motorcycles, attending sporting events and taking on outdoor projects. He LOVES building bonfires and being under the stars! Ben is super handy...he can build and fix just about anything (I envision him building a magical tree fort someday!)
In high school, Ben lettered in basketball, baseball and cross country. After high school, he worked briefly with his father's construction company and has experience running heavy equipment. His current profession with state government has given him behind the scene access to sporting, civic and political events. He enjoys attending UK and NC State Basketball, Cincinnati Reds, as well as NBA games. Ben is really proud of his civic contributions which include co-founding Camp Promise, an annual 4 day camp for at-risk youth. The camp introduces local youth to a variety of occupation and skill sets, as well as offering emotional support to help build esteem and interest for the most productive life. Ben was recognized for his contributions in 2009 when he was awarded the title of his hometown's Young Man of The Year.
Ellie's interests include creating smiles, swimming, evening walks with the boxers by the lake, cycling the Creeper Trail, and shopping with her nieces. She enjoys shopping rummage sales with her mother, dancing, and decorating the home for the Holidays and seasons. She is crazy for cake with buttercream icing!
As a child, Ellie participated in Girl Scouts, piano lessons, Bible School, and band (flute). In high school, Ellie lettered in basketball, softball, and cross country. While in college, she continued to participate in softball and cross country competitively. Presently, Ellie is required to complete annual continuing education courses to maintain her license and chooses locations that are tourist destinations. This allows her and Ben to continue to check off sites from their destination bucket list. They visit sites with ruins, coliseums, pyramids and monuments. Ellie also donates her time participating in local RAM (Remote Area Medical) mission events to provide medical and dental care to the domestic non and underinsured.
We have a group of childhood friends and couples that we take annual vacations with to celebrate milestone birthdays, anniversaries, and even good health. We feel is it important to surround ourselves with people who have common goals and healthy relationships. Every fall, our circle of friends competes in the Halloween Costume Contest for our local Hospice Charity Event. It's a much anticipated event and we spend weeks creating and fine tuning our costumes, to everyone's delight. We can't wait to share the fun of masquerade with a little one!
I (Ellie) want you to know that Ben is the BEST story teller and crazy witty! Everyone is drawn to him at a party. He is hands down his nieces' and nephews' favorite uncle! He loves to spend time with the men of his family, and his friends can call on him for anything. He is a devoted, loyal friend and a "man's man".
I (Ben) want you to know that Ellie is a very caring and honest person. She cares a great deal for her family, patients and animals. She is truly a person who is perfectly fine with working behind the scene without receiving any recognition. She is a planner, visionary, and an adventurer. Her friends will tell you that she is fun to be with and her laughter is contagious.
We believe that we can provide experiences, beliefs and opportunities to a child that will ensure happiness and stability. We want to share in our travels and celebrations, hoping this will spark a lifelong interest for exploration and learning. We hope he/she will possess a desire to seek out experiences as they grow that are rare and awesome. Most importantly, we hope we can nurture the child to be generous and have a character of honor. We know that we will share laughter, joy and endless love.
Thank you for taking this time to learn more about us! And please know that even though we haven't met, we are already praying for you!
God bless and keep you!
Ellie and Ben
