Letter to Expectant Parent(s)
Thank you for considering our family for your child. We recognize that we cannot fully understand or appreciate the choices you are making for your child. Because you are creating an adoption plan, it is clear to us that you love and care for your child's future. You are a very strong and courageous person. No matter what path you choose to take on your journey, we wish you, your child, and your family all the best.
Prior to getting married, Hilary and Alan discussed adoption as a method of bringing children into our lives. After struggling to become pregnant for a couple of years, we chose to pursue In Vitro Fertilization (IVF); which resulted in our awesome son Miles. Because Miles was our last embryo to transfer and of the stresses (physical, emotional, financial, etc.) of the IVF process, we felt God was calling us to revisit adoption instead of initiating another IVF cycle.
Alan is a technology consultant and owns his own business. He loves what he does, helping individuals and companies grow beyond where they are today. So deep is Alan's passion for his career, the joke around the house is that Alan is often reading industry material, even on his leisure time. But, what brings Alan the most joy and significantly impacts his character as a human being, is his relationship with his family. Hilary is a blessing and a strong partner in his life, she truly is his better half. Miles has taught Alan not to take life so seriously. A couple of highlights in Alan's life, is walking Miles to school every day and reading him stories at bed time.
Hilary is a pediatric subspecialist physician at a local children's hospital. Her primary responsibility is caring for very sick and terminally ill children and their families. She is passionate about her chosen career and even though she has many challenging cases, making a difference for one child and their family is a rewarding and enriching experience. Hilary knows that each day is a gift and she is blessed to have such a wonderful husband and son by her side. Highlights of Hilary's day include Miles' bath time, taking walks around the neighborhood with her family and going to the library with Miles.
Miles was born in 2016. He is inquisitive and good natured. We know he would be a loving and caring big brother. Miles attends a daycare that is affiliated with our church and located around the corner from our house. He loves it there and has many friends. The school is very good at teaching the kids proper social behavior, how to respond to social queues; as well as, academics. Miles has strong vocabulary and counting skills. He is a typical boy and enjoys the three T's (trains, trucks, and tractors), although right now, he prefers to observe from a distance.
As a family we enjoy taking trips in and out of town; as well as, visiting museums and cultural events. Because Alan's parents live in Texas and Hilary's family lives in Mississippi, we fly to visit them a few times a year. Miles loves to fly, and we know he would enjoy sharing the experience with his sibling. We plan to visit Hilary's extended family in Germany soon. Our family believes in and advocates responsibility to nature and the environment. We are members of the local zoo and visit local parks regularly, so that we can instill environmental stewardship into our children.
Thank you for reading about our family. We will love your child like our own! Your child will have the safety and security of knowing they are loved and have the support to make their dreams, and your dreams for them, come true. We will make room for you in our hearts for giving us this gift, and your child will know that choosing adoption was a sign of how much you loved them!
